Overview
BuddGet ("the App") is developed by Coding Mind, Inc and created by Belinda. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data when you use BuddGet on iOS.
By using BuddGet, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the App.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and a securely hashed password through Firebase Authentication.
Financial & Transaction Data
You may manually enter spending transactions or link a bank account. This data includes transaction amounts, categories, dates, merchant names, and any media influence tags you choose to add (e.g., whether a purchase was influenced by social media).
Receipt Images
If you use the receipt scanning feature, the App accesses your device camera or photo library to capture or select a receipt image. Images are sent to OpenAI's API for text extraction and are not permanently stored by Coding Mind, Inc.
Bank Account Data
BuddGet uses Plaid to allow optional bank account linking. Plaid collects and processes your banking credentials under their own Privacy Policy. We store only the data returned by Plaid (e.g., transaction history) in your personal account on our servers.
Usage & Behavioral Data
The App analyzes your spending patterns to generate identity archetypes and media influence insights. This analysis is performed locally and through Firebase Cloud Functions using your own transaction data — it is never shared with third parties for advertising.
How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your user account
- To store and display your transaction history
- To generate spending insights, identity archetypes, and media influence reports
- To process receipt images for automatic transaction entry
- To sync bank account transactions via Plaid
- To improve the App's features and user experience
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers or third-party marketing services.
Device Permissions
BuddGet requests the following device permissions:
Camera Used to scan receipts. The camera is only activated when you initiate a scan.
Photo Library (Read) Used to let you select an existing photo of a receipt from your library.
Photo Library (Save) Used to save images when applicable. You will be prompted before any image is saved.
You can revoke any permission at any time in your iOS Settings.
Third-Party Services
BuddGet integrates the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
- Firebase (Google) — Authentication, database, cloud storage, and cloud functions
- OpenAI — Receipt image analysis (images are not retained by OpenAI beyond the API request per their data usage policy)
- Plaid — Optional bank account linking and transaction sync
We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these providers.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely in Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Storage), protected by Firebase security rules that ensure only you can access your own data. We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest.
While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at the email below. Upon request, we will delete your data within 30 days.
Children's Privacy
BuddGet is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent at any time

Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
